Coach Joe Brady Denies Rumors of Leaving the Buffalo Bills After Brief Sideline Dispute with Head Coach Sean McDermott – “My Soul Belongs to This Team”
Buffalo, New York – October 16, 2025
After days of speculation about his potential departure from the Buffalo Bills to become the next head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions, offensive coordinator Joe Brady has finally spoken out to put the rumors to rest. In an interview this morning at the team’s training facility in Orchard Park, Brady made it clear that he’s “not going anywhere” and remains fully committed to the Bills amid the team’s recent struggles.

“I know what’s being said out there, but I’m still here – with my players, with Coach McDermott, with this city,” Brady said firmly. “I still have a lot of work to do with the Buffalo Bills. My soul belongs to this team.”
The rumors surrounding Brady’s future began on October 14, when BetOnline listed him as the favorite (+250 odds) to become Penn State’s next head coach, surpassing Nebraska’s Matt Rhule. However, Brady has never confirmed any discussions with Penn State, and the Bills’ front office has also stated that they have not received any official contact from the university.
Following two consecutive losses to the Patriots and Falcons, Buffalo’s offense has come under heavy criticism for being “too complicated and ineffective.” Still, Brady appeared calm and optimistic:
“When things get tough, you don’t run – you fight. I believe in Josh (Allen), I believe in our offense, and I believe we’ll find our rhythm again.”
A team source also revealed that Brady is working closely with head coach Sean McDermott to make key offensive adjustments during the bye week, preparing for the upcoming Week 8 matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
If one message came through clearly from Brady’s words today, it’s this – Buffalo isn’t just where he works; it’s where he belongs.
