The attack occurred during a community event where Boyd was interacting with fans. An aggressive individual approached him, began insulting the Seahawks, and mocked Boyd for publicly admiring the team. Remaining calm, Boyd simply asked the man to show respect to the organization and to the players he admired. But that measured response only triggered the aggressor further, leading to a sudden physical assault that left Boyd injured and hospitalized.
After seeing footage and speaking with the family, Bobby Taylor could not remain silent.
“Kris isn’t the type to start trouble with anyone. He’s dealt with deep emotional wounds in the past and always said the Seahawks were the place that pulled him out of the darkness. If he stepped up to defend that team, it’s because he truly loves what they represent. For someone like him to be hurt by the blind rage of a reckless fan — that’s something I cannot accept.”
Taylor continued by praising Boyd’s resilience — the kind of strength that doesn’t show up on highlight reels.
He added:
“Some people are strong on the field, but Kris is strong in the places no camera ever captures. He stood up for what he believes in, and that tells you everything about his character.”
Immediately after the incident, the Seahawks reached out to Boyd’s family to offer support and assured that they would assist in every possible way. The organization also confirmed that they will cover all of Boyd’s medical and recovery expenses.
