HC Andy Reid Files Complaint to NFL Urging Fines for the Entire Lions Team After Dirty Play During and After the Game – Tensions Escalate Following On-Field Chaos and Brian Branch’s Punch
Kansas City, Missouri
The aftermath of the Kansas City Chiefs’ 30-17 win over the Detroit Lions has turned fiery — not because of the scoreboard, but because of what unfolded on the field and in the moments that followed.
According to multiple reports from Arrowhead Stadium, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has officially filed a complaint to the NFL, accusing Lions players of “unsportsmanlike conduct” and “excessive aggression,” specifically pointing to safety Brian Branch, who threw a punch at JuJu Smith-Schuster immediately after the final kneel-down.
The punch sparked a major on-field brawl, with players from both sides rushing in to defend their teammates. What infuriated the Chiefs even more was the Lions’ postgame reaction — some players reportedly accused Kansas City of provoking the incident.

Clearly angered, Andy Reid didn’t hold back in his postgame remarks:
“I’ve been coaching for a long time, and this might be the worst win I’ve ever experienced — we don’t play to fight, we play to win, but tonight it felt like they weren’t trying to win, they were just trying to hit.”
Sources close to the situation confirm that the Chiefs’ formal complaint includes video evidence of several uncalled personal fouls committed by Lions players throughout the game — at least three of which, the team claims, were clear and dangerous hits that referees ignored.
Reid has also urged the league to launch a full investigation into both the officiating crew and the Lions’ conduct, calling for proper disciplinary action to “protect the integrity of the game.”
“I respect tough football — but that wasn’t football, that was fighting. The NFL needs to take a hard look at this if they truly care about fair play.”
The Lions organization has yet to release an official statement. However, several analysts believe that if the NFL finds merit in the complaint, Brian Branch and multiple Lions players could face heavy fines or even suspensions.
What should have been a statement win for the Chiefs to solidify their dominance in the AFC has instead ignited one of the most heated controversies of the season — and with tempers still flaring, the fallout from Chiefs vs. Lions may be far from over.
