HC Nick Sirianni calls young linebacker Patrick Johnson “a steal the entire NFL overlooked”
Amid a roster filled with high-profile stars, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni took a moment to shine the spotlight on one of the team’s most underrated defenders — Patrick Johnson, a young linebacker who has quietly become one of the Eagles’ most pleasant surprises this season.
In the team’s most recent game, Johnson played just 22 defensive snaps, yet made a huge impact — recording two tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, and the first sack of his NFL career. According to Pro Football Focus, his 71.6 defensive grade was the highest among all Eagles players in that game, despite his limited playing time.

When asked about Johnson’s performance, Sirianni didn’t hold back his praise, calling the young defender one of the best under-the-radar finds in the league this year.
“Patrick Johnson is a steal — a player the entire NFL overlooked. He doesn’t talk much; he just shows up and works. Every time we give him a chance, he makes us wonder why we’re not playing him more.”
Sirianni added that the coaching staff is considering giving Johnson a larger role in the defensive rotation in the coming weeks, especially as the Eagles search for more edge production and energy up front.
Still early in his career, Patrick Johnson is proving that true value in football isn’t measured by fame or status, but by consistency, effort, and performance. And with the full confidence of his head coach, the Eagles may have just discovered one of the biggest steals of their season.
