INJURY UPDATE: QB Aaron Rodgers Continues To Miss Practice Due To Small Fracture In Left Wrist – HC Mike Tomlin Activates "Backup Plan" Ahead Of Epic Clash With Bills
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – 27/11/2025
The Pittsburgh Steelers enter their preparation week for a pivotal matchup against the Buffalo Bills under growing concern, as Aaron Rodgers once again missed Wednesday’s practice due to a small fracture in his left wrist. The latest medical evaluation confirms the injury is indeed a minor bone fracture, leaving his availability for Sunday highly uncertain.

Rodgers said he is recovering “little by little,” especially thanks to the early-week rest. However, he still hasn’t taken a single snap from under center, a clear indication that returning to play would carry significant risk. The veteran quarterback noted that his wrist is “hardening and healing a bit each day,” but emphasized he needs complete stability before he can throw with full velocity.
While Rodgers races against the clock, head coach Mike Tomlin delivered a sharp, decisive message that made it clear the Steelers are no longer waiting passively:
“We expect Aaron to fight to return, but the team cannot be passive. We’ve prepared for every scenario. This is the NFL — you have to be ready with your backup plan before it becomes reality. And sometimes, those unexpected moments decide an entire season, so we cannot afford mistakes.”
According to team sources, the Steelers have significantly increased reps for the backup quarterback and adjusted portions of the playbook to reduce strain on the position in case Rodgers is unavailable. Tomlin stressed that Pittsburgh will not risk Rodgers’ long-term health, no matter how important this matchup is in the AFC playoff race.
Rodgers isn’t the only concern. DK Metcalf (ankle) and Ben Skowronek (shoulder) were both limited early in the week, adding more pressure to the preparation process. Still, Metcalf expressed confidence that he’ll be “fine for Sunday,” while Skowronek remains in day-to-day evaluation.
Even with uncertainty looming, Rodgers showed his trademark competitiveness and determination:
“I’m going to try everything I can over the next two days. Every small session matters. But ultimately, the decision has to be what’s best for the team.”
With multiple injuries clouding a crucial week, the Steelers are heading into one of their biggest tests of the season. Steelers Nation will soon find out whether Tomlin’s “backup plan” becomes a necessity — or if Rodgers can recover just in time to lead Pittsburgh into a high-intensity battle with the Buffalo Bills.
