Jaxson Dart Shatters NFL Records in Another Heartbreaking Giants Loss — Is New York Wasting a Future Superstar?

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Jaxson Dart keeps rewriting the record books. The problem? The New York Giants keep losing.
On Sunday, the rookie quarterback turned MetLife Stadium into his personal highlight reel, rushing for two touchdowns and breaking two major NFL records — yet the Giants still fell 24–20 to the Chicago Bears, their fifth straight defeat. The loss dropped New York to 2–5, but it couldn’t overshadow the brilliance of their new franchise hope.
Dart became the first player in NFL history to rush for a touchdown in five consecutive games, surpassing the mark set by former MVP Cam Newton. He also joined elite company as only the fifth rookie quarterback since 1950 to post at least five games with 50 or more rushing yards. His dual-threat dynamism continues to redefine what this struggling Giants offense can be — if only the team around him could keep pace.
Against Chicago, Dart completed 19 of 29 passes for 242 yards while adding 67 yards on six carries, including touchdown runs of 3 and 24 yards. His blend of power and poise electrified the home crowd, but late in the fourth quarter, a head injury forced him out of the game and into concussion protocol — a chilling reminder of the risks that come with his fearless playing style.
After the game, Dart was blunt: “Records are cool, but losing isn’t. I run to win, not to make history,” he said, a strip of white tape still wrapped around his temple. His comments captured the bittersweet reality of his breakout campaign — personal excellence, team frustration.
Head coach Brian Daboll echoed that sentiment with some urgency: “Jaxson’s everything you want in a franchise guy — fearless, explosive, electric. But he’s taking too many hits. We’ve got to keep him upright, because if he goes down, so does everything we’re building.”
Through seven games, Dart has thrown for 1,175 yards, 10 touchdowns, and only three interceptions, while adding highlight after highlight with his legs. The Giants might be sinking in the standings, but their rookie QB is already making NFL history — and giving New York a reason to believe that better days are coming.
