Jaylon Moore Gets Emotional After Chiefs Coach's Heartfelt Praise After Practice and Looks Back on His Game and Sends Inspirational Message to Energize Team Ahead of Big Game in Week 11
November 12, 2025 – Kansas City, Mo.
When Andy Reid speaks, players listen. And when the Kansas City Chiefs’ head coach took a moment this week to praise veteran offensive tackle Jaylon Moore, it struck a chord with a man who’s spent years quietly grinding for his shot.
Moore joined the Chiefs as a free agent before the 2025 season, expected to provide depth and leadership behind first-round rookie Josh Simmons. But when Simmons stepped away for personal reasons, Moore was suddenly thrust into the starting lineup — protecting Patrick Mahomes’ blind side against some of the league’s fiercest defensive fronts.
Reid didn’t hold back in his postgame comments. “Jaylon’s done a nice job for us,” Reid said Monday. “Just asking him to jump in after the season’s been going for a couple months — that’s a tough ask, especially against the d-lines we’re playing. He’s done a respectable job.”
For Moore, those few words meant everything. After years of bouncing around practice squads and battling to stay on rosters, hearing his coach’s praise carried real weight. “Coach said I did a ‘respectable job’ — to me, that’s a medal of honor. I’m no star, just a vet in the trenches, giving Mahomes one more heartbeat to make magic for this team and this city,” Moore said with a smile.
He knows the challenge won’t get any easier. With the Chiefs (7–3) preparing to face the Denver Broncos in Week 11, the question remains whether Simmons will reclaim his starting role or if Moore will hold the spot a little longer. Either way, he’s ready.
“If Josh comes back, I’ll be the first one clapping for him,” Moore added. “This isn’t about me — it’s about doing whatever keeps this team moving forward.”
Respectable or not, Jaylon Moore’s midseason stand has done more than fill a roster gap. It’s reminded everyone in Kansas City what resilience, humility, and heart look like in the trenches.
