Jerry Jones Submits $120 Million Expansion Plan for The Star in Frisco, Governor Greg Abbott’s Reaction Leaves Cowboys Fans Deeply Disappointed
Frisco, Texas
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has officially submitted an ambitious $120 million plan to expand The Star in Frisco, the team’s world headquarters and practice facility.
The project includes adding 80,000 square feet of state-of-the-art office space to accommodate both football operations and the team’s business departments. In addition, the number of parking spaces will increase from 275 to 435 to better serve the growing organization.

The expansion will be built on the east side of The Star, facing the Dallas North Tollway, creating a more modern and impressive campus for America’s Team.
Jerry Jones’ Statement:
“We remain fully committed to investing in this franchise and the Dallas-Fort Worth community,” Jones said. “This project will not only help the Cowboys stay at the forefront of the NFL but will also create hundreds of new jobs for our region. It’s an important step forward for the long-term success of this organization.”
The proposal was formally submitted in December 2025. If approved, construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2026 and be completed by the fall of 2028.
However, the reaction from Texas Governor Greg Abbott has left Cowboys Nation extremely disappointed. The governor expressed concerns about the project’s cost and questioned whether allocating valuable land for sports infrastructure is the best use of resources when the state faces other pressing needs.
Governor Abbott stated: “We have to be thoughtful about this. Texas has many other important priorities for our citizens. We also need clarity on the long-term direction of the franchise.”
His cautious response has drawn sharp criticism from Cowboys fans, who feel the governor is unnecessarily creating obstacles for one of the most valuable and iconic franchises in American sports. Many believe rejecting or delaying the expansion of The Star is unfair, especially considering how vital the facility is for the team’s competitiveness.
While the Cowboys are not currently for sale, fans remain uneasy about the lack of strong support from state leadership for such a significant investment in the team’s future.
With construction tentatively scheduled to start this summer, Cowboys fans will be closely monitoring the project’s progress. They are hopeful that Governor Abbott and Texas officials will ultimately approve the plan so Jerry Jones can continue building a stronger future for the Dallas Cowboys.
