Tension is once again rising in Pittsburgh as Super Bowl legend Terry Bradshaw — the iconic face of the Steelers’ dynasty — publicly criticized general manager Omar Khan for refusing to sign a young wide receiver who posted over 1,400 yards last season, a player who had just become a free agent shortly after the trade deadline closed.
According to team sources, the Steelers had a golden opportunity to add a true playmaker — one that many analysts called the perfect fit to revive Pittsburgh’s struggling offense. Yet Khan and the front office reportedly hesitated until the final moments before deciding to walk away, a move that Bradshaw called “a costly act of caution.”
“I’ve seen great teams fall apart not because they lacked talent, but because they were afraid to take chances,” Bradshaw said on FOX NFL Sunday. “This kid is a 1,400-yard receiver — young, explosive, everything this team needs right now. What I’m seeing is an offense that’s losing its identity, that spark Pittsburgh football used to have.”
Bradshaw — who led the Steelers to four Super Bowl titles — went on to say that Khan’s conservative approach could end up holding the franchise back in an increasingly competitive AFC.

“You can’t keep waiting for D.K. Metcalf to perform miracles every week,” he added. “This team needed a game-changer, and Omar Khan let him slip right through his fingers.”
According to ESPN, the player Bradshaw referred to was Jakobi Meyers — the 28-year-old receiver who racked up 1,412 yards and 10 touchdowns with the Raiders in 2024. Seen by many as the perfect complement to Metcalf, Meyers was available for a short window before making his decision. After the Steelers stepped back, Meyers officially joined the Jacksonville Jaguars, closing the door on what many believe could have been the move to transform Pittsburgh’s offense once and for all.
