And now, it’s received the ultimate recognition — NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has officially praised New Orleans Saints cornerback Quincy Riley’s interception as “the best catch of the season so far.”
During the matchup between the Saints and the Chicago Bears, with just over three minutes left in the first quarter, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams launched a deep ball down the right sideline on 3rd & 17. Under heavy pressure from the Saints’ front, the ball sailed high — until Riley appeared like a scene out of an action movie, leaping between two Bears receivers, snatching the ball mid-air, and crashing to the turf with it securely in his hands.

The official fan @Saints account wasted no time posting the clip with a fiery caption:

The post exploded online, racking up more than 130,000 views within hours, along with hundreds of comments celebrating the rookie’s instinct and athleticism.
Speaking on NFL Total Access, Roger Goodell couldn’t hide his admiration:
“That play made me get out of my chair. Riley read the route like a veteran and timed his jump perfectly. You can see thousands of interceptions every season, but only a few have that kind of instinct, precision, and flair.”
Goodell even added with a rare grin:
“If there were ever a painting to capture the spirit of a perfect defensive back, that moment from Riley would be it.”
