Owner Jerry Jones Reveals Plans for Colorful Seat Decor to Honor the LGBT Community at AT&T And Dak Prescott's Reaction Surprises Everyone and Creates a Storm in Cowboys Nation
Dallas, Texas – October, 2025
Right before the Cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals game, owner Jerry Jones drew attention by announcing a plan to decorate the stadium seats in rainbow colors to show the team's support for the LGBTQ+ community.
In the meeting about the project's intent, Jerry Jones shared emotionally:
“Dallas Cowboys is not just a team – we are part of the community. Every color on the stands represents a value we respect: diversity, compassion and unity. I want everyone, whether a football fan or not, to feel that here – everyone is welcome.”
According to sources from Dallas Morning News, this rainbow seat area is expected to be placed in a special position in AT&T Stadium, as a message that “Cowboys always stand for diversity and respect.”
However, right after that announcement, the Cowboys' captain surprised the entire Cowboys Nation by expressing disagreement with the owner's plan. In the press conference after Wednesday morning practice, he said straightforwardly:
“I respect everyone and every community, but I think the team should focus on playing, on bringing wins to the fans. Social plans like this should not become the focus of the Cowboys right now.”
This statement immediately caused intense controversy. Some fans support the captain because they think he “speaks to the point” – that the Cowboys need to focus on performance after the loss to the Broncos. But many also criticize him for “lacking tact” and say Jerry Jones is trying to move toward a more open, humane image for the team.
An ESPN Dallas reporter commented:
“Jerry Jones always sees the Cowboys as a symbol of America. Bringing community elements into the team culture is understandable. But the captain's reaction shows conservative views still exist in the locker room.”
According to internal sources, Jerry Jones is not angry about the captain's comment, but there will be a private talk before the Arizona game to “clarify the team's direction.”
Nevertheless, one thing is certain: the Cowboys vs. Cardinals game is now not just a match on the field – but also the center of national media attention, as Jerry Jones and the Cowboys continue to become a symbol of the confrontation between sports, beliefs and modern social values.
