Steelers Legend Heath Miller Auctions Off His Final Career Jersey to Help His Longtime Partner Overcome the Greatest Challenge of His Life – the Battle Against Chronic Degenerative Joint Disease
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – November 5, 2025
In a powerful act of brotherhood that has moved the entire Steelers Nation, Heath Miller – the legendary tight end known for his toughness, humility, and loyalty – has announced he will auction off the jersey from his final NFL game to support Ben Roethlisberger, his closest friend and longtime teammate, who is currently battling chronic joint degeneration with peripheral neuropathy, a condition linked to years of wear and tear from his two-decade football career.

For more than a decade, Miller and Roethlisberger were more than teammates – they were brothers. Together, they built one of the most iconic eras in Pittsburgh Steelers history, connecting on hundreds of passes, winning two Super Bowl championships, and embodying the true spirit of the “Steel City” – resilient, loyal, and grounded.
“He wasn’t just my quarterback – he was my partner in everything,” Miller said, his voice trembling. “From every throw at Heinz Field to the days we spent raising our kids side by side, we’ve shared every high and low. Now that he’s facing a battle I can’t step on the field to fight, I’ll still fight alongside him – in my own way.”
The jersey Miller wore in his emotional farewell game in 2015 remains a sacred symbol of loyalty and endurance. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to the Steelers Alumni Health & Recovery Fund, supporting Roethlisberger’s treatment and furthering research into degenerative joint diseases among retired NFL players.
“We built something special here,” Miller added. “And if this jersey – this piece of our story – can bring him hope, then it’s worth more than any touchdown I ever scored.”
For Steelers Nation, this moment is more than just charity – it’s a living testament to the soul of Pittsburgh: brotherhood, loyalty, and strength that endures long after the final whistle fades.
