Kansas City, Missouri
According to the Kansas City Chiefs, at tomorrow’s Week 8 matchup between the Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium, there will be a special guest in attendance — someone incredibly important to Patrick Mahomes, even though the boy doesn’t wear a helmet or shoulder pads. For Mahomes, he represents the greatest source of strength and inspiration, the reason he takes the field with everything he’s got.

That boy is Caleb, 10 years old, from Topeka, who is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia. It was Caleb who wrote a heartfelt letter that deeply moved Patrick Mahomes. In that letter, he wrote:
“When I see you play, I feel brave enough to fight my sickness too.”
Those simple but powerful words touched Mahomes deeply. Without hesitation, the Chiefs quarterback personally contacted Caleb’s family and arranged for them to attend the game at Arrowhead Stadium as honored guests of the team. According to team staff, Mahomes also prepared a meaningful gift — a jersey embroidered with the words “For Caleb – Keep Believing.”
In his pregame press conference, Mahomes spoke with emotion in his voice:
“That boy is fighting a battle tougher than any game I’ve ever played. Every time I feel tired or think about giving less than my best, I think about Caleb — a kid who keeps smiling through the hardest days. He reminds me what real strength looks like. Tomorrow, I’ll fight my hardest for him.”

When asked if he had any message for Caleb before the game, Mahomes smiled and said softly:
“I promise, Caleb — no matter what happens, I’ll give everything I have. And if we win, that victory will be yours.”
The Kansas City Chiefs confirmed that Caleb and his family will be seated in the VIP section near the sideline, where the boy can clearly see his hero step onto the field amid the roar of the Red Sea and the thunder of the drums.
For many, the matchup between the Chiefs and the Raiders is just another fierce AFC West rivalry. But for Patrick Mahomes, it’s something far more personal — a battle of the heart, where he’s not only fighting for victory, but for a brave young boy who’s teaching him the truest meaning of courage, hope, and faith.
