According to the Philadelphia Eagles, at tomorrow’s Week 8 matchup between the Eagles and the New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field, there will be a special guest in attendance — someone deeply important to Jalen Hurts, even though the boy doesn’t wear a jersey or gloves. For Hurts, he represents the greatest source of strength and inspiration, the reason he takes the field with fire in his heart.
That boy is Mason, 9 years old, from Camden, who is currently undergoing treatment for bone cancer. It was Mason who wrote the heartfelt letter that stayed with Jalen Hurts for days. In the letter, he wrote:
“Every time I watch you play, I feel stronger.”
Those innocent yet sincere words deeply moved the Eagles quarterback. Without hesitation, Hurts personally reached out to Mason’s family and arranged for the boy and his parents to attend the game at Lincoln Financial Field as honored guests of the team. According to team staff, Hurts has also prepared a special gift — a custom jersey embroidered with the words “For Mason – Keep Strong.”
In his pregame interview, Hurts spoke with emotion in his voice:
“That boy is fighting in a battle none of us could ever imagine. Every time I feel tired or think about giving up, I think of Mason — a little kid with the heart of a warrior. He reminds me that real strength doesn’t come from your body, it comes from your heart. Tomorrow, I’ll fight my hardest for him.”
When asked if he had anything to say to Mason before the game, Hurts smiled gently and said:
“I promise, Mason — no matter what happens, I’ll give everything I have. And if we win, that victory will be for you.”

The Philadelphia Eagles confirmed that Mason and his family will be seated in the honorary section near the sideline, where the boy will have a clear view of his hero stepping onto the field amidst the roar of tens of thousands of fans.
For most people, the matchup between the Eagles and Giants is just another NFL game. But for Jalen Hurts, it’s something far deeper — a battle of the heart, where he’s not only fighting for victory, but for a young boy who is teaching him one of life’s greatest lessons: that true courage and faith come from love, hope, and the will to keep fighting.
